Watch Dylan Tighe's promotional clip for- RECORD
A New video clip for RECORD - which was called "Remarkable...affecting, invigorating- by Irish Times.
Dylan Tighe, director of The Irish Times Theatre Award-winning No Worst There Is None, returns to the Festival with this stirring new project which explores depression and the concept of “mental illness” with courage, imagination and humour.
The title of Dylan Tighe’s remarkable new production suggests a life measured out in documents – from his birth certificate to psychiatric diagnosis, or actor’s showreel to a sheaf of medical prescriptions.Tighe, who was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder in 2004, also uses the occasion of this performance to introduce live music from his debut album, 'Record' – songs clearly inspired by his difficult experiences and his disillusionment with the rigidity of a health service that tends to treat patients as specimens rather than human beings: “To gift the mind to chemistry, to numb it to the truth, hurts more than the bitter feeling that joy is but a fluke,” he sings on the song 'Lamotrigine'.
A CORK MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL AND DYLAN TIGHE PRODUCTION. A CO-PRODUCTION WITH DUBLIN THEATRE FESTIVAL. SUPPORTED BY AN ARTS COUNCIL PROJECT AWARD AND THE ARTS COUNCIL ARTIST IN THE COMMUNITY SCHEME MANAGED BY CREATE.
